Back in the mists of time I'm sure I can remember somewhere offering a kit of plates to weld to your front subframe to help stiffen it, to compensate for the bulkhead box.

Now I've my own ideas about what I'm going to do, but does anyone else remember this kit, and who sold it?

I think it was basically two gussets from the rear rail up to the towers.

Glasgow

it was a couple of triagular plates from the towers onto the rear rail and a section of flat bar to sandwich between the rear of the frame and the bulkhead - i think the ideal was to drill and bolt through

I recall Andy bought it with his bulkhead box from Avonbar many years ago but i could be mistaken

I'll make the triangular plates up myself then, I already have a spacer with 3 M10 capheads through the subframe and bulkhead lower down. Cheers chaps.

hi tom on our rallyx minis at back of subframe were it meets bulk head under carb area we weld plate to frame and plate to bulkhead and bolt with through you may need a spacer between that takes load flex out of frame and car steers way better when hitting bumps or long fast bends ! also we used to go through 3/4 sets mounts a season we used 1 set all last year ! and leaves a lot more feel to car . " and one got to says it cant or dont work "" we did a simple cheap test we tied a bit of heafty fishing line from side to side of frame fairly tight after 5 laps it had snapped !! with frame bolted it never broke even when pulled tight ! it has stopped somthing moving ?? john

Any pics of these mods guys? I wouldn't mind a mod like this for my car.

I used this kit when I built mine. Was also from avonbar. From memory there were 4 triagulation pieces and a piece of bar that curved along the underneath of the rear crossbar of the frame.
Like others, I also added a spacer bar & bolted the frame straight through the bulkhead.

Too many projects!
