*surprised* just removed my exhaust elbow, then waste gate part, only to find atleast 2 long cracks on the tubing exhaust housing. one crack runs from the waste gate hole, round into the exhaust turbine itself. the other runs from the waste gate hole too. i swear if i look into the hole the crack runs on towards the big rectangle mounting flange.

*angry*

can any one give some good advice, ive got another turbo with a good housing, but that one has snaped studs in it etc, *Confused*

As long as there not really bad should be ok, all the turbos I have used t2 and t3 have had cracks. I had one that did cause boost spiking but that was majorly cracked! Try it and see if it causes a problem repair your other one and use that.

not entirely related, but my audi dailly uses a KKK borg warner turbo, and I've NEVER seen one that's not got cracks in the exhaust housing.....

most cause lttle issue at all, although you have to use a bit of common sense if they're HUGE cracks....

Warwick.

when i used to remanufacture turbos 90% of the turbos that came in had some sort of crack, some were bad and had to be scrapped but usualy would be fine

Pictures would help. But I've never seen a T2 without crackd around the wastegate.

ive taken my turbo to pieces thismorning, had to give it a beating, and cook it with a heat gun. ive striped my spare turbo, as the housing was good on that.

ive posted some pictures at the top of this thread :)
