I (personally) don`t believe that twin webers are good for a Bimmer Twinky,,, i was going to make a manifold & in fact started to,,, but in the middle of sorting the issues with angles & length & the "bunched-up-ness" & & &,,, well it`s just not worth the stuff around in my books,,,

the throats just end up way too sharply angled & horrible,,, there`s no real length to them unless you stick them out the bonnet,,, the cost of the 2 carbs & the manifold & the linkages & filter assy etc etc etc,,, why not just inject it & have a far nicer set-up,,, well it`s just what i say,,, don`t have to take my word for it

they obviously will work,,, no argument there,,, just no where near as nice as injection in more ways than one

Bike carbs? Are there any which would mount straight onto the K100 head?

oh if you just want something to make it go Vroom,,, then set up a piece of exhaust pipe, drill 4x holes in it & weld 4x more bits of exhaust pipe to the holes,,, add a flange on the end for an SU or a weber & bung that on to make it run,,, it would ba almost as good as 2 webers with stoopid short, horribly angled, all bunched up, inch long inlet manifold.

sorry,,, just don`t see the sense in making crap out of what could be a good thing

Oh unless you want to stick them out of the bonnet,,, then you get some length,,, & lessen the effects of the sharp angles *smiley*

Bike Carbs are my next thoughts, its nor my engine so its not my choice. Its my dads and he likes old school, ive managed to twist his arm into having a k head but injection hes just not bothered about. Plus he doesnt have the budget! Bike carbs and Webers are pretty cheap second hand.

Oh yeah.,,, ZX9 are 75mm bore spacings, (same as bimmer),, i have them on my small bore twinky,,, but the `yre meant to run at wicked angles so again some length of manifold is needed

there are plenty of bike carbs that we`ve made work ok for them that sit flat so you can bunch them under the bonnet,,, but mostly they need to be ripped apart,,, shorten the spacings between them & re-fit all bunched up

we`ve done that with Yamy R1 carbs & Honda 900 carbs

they work far better than 2x webers in my books,,, just a fair bit more fiddly to sort with the linkages & getting them all tucked in nice & close together,,, & yeah, way cheaper if you can score a set like i did off e-bay for $120 *smiley*

ah,,, ZZR1100 carbs are much the same carbs as Zx9 but spacings are differnt (wider apart)

hey i`m sure they go ok... but i`m also sure you can make better with better carbs choice yeah?

If you look at the 75mm spacings needed,,, then bunch 2 webers together , as close as you can get them together,,, then check out the different length of runners needed to suit from end ports to middle ports etc,,, also check out how tight the angles are inside the "Inch" or so thick plate you need to use to make it all happen & clear a round nose bonnet

If it`s for a clubby then not as much of a problem (sort of) at least you can add some length to "lessen" the problem

Just been looking at some pics on morspeed website of the weber setup, it appears there is a fairly severe angle it runs on, Hmm Matt did you ever see how far these 1" manifolds make the carbs sit from the bonnet of a round nose? Wonder if theres any room for improvement.

Very good. I wouldn't be keen using a gen cooper s block for a k-head conversion. hopefully you have an a+ or something else you could use?
