Ok, so i got a GT17 of fleebay, and its a bit more fooked than i thought, the main problem is the bearings were so knackered the compressor turbine has made contact with the housing, the finis have a nice bur and the housing has some decent groves in it. Now i am not really looking for record braking power so if it only going to hold me back a little in the hp department then i wont be to fussed, but i imagine the comp wheel will be pretty unbalanced?

Problem No. 2 is the exhaust housing is seized the the center section (not sure on the correct terms) now i assume once you have removed the 4 bolts holding it on they should come apart? well they dont! i have tried a few gentle approaches, tapping the center of the exhaust turbine no joy, and attaching a long bar to the oil exit and twisting but no joy. Any pointers?

its scrap. second the wheels touch the housing its done. you could be a right tight cunt and fire a rebuild kit on it, but itll be awefull, hunt for another :)

Didn't someone on here manage to source a new compressor wheel for one?

Hold the main body in a vice and ive the exhaust housing a precision tap wih a FBH.

When I took mine apart, the groove in the shaft where the oil seal sits, had a massive step in it. The body was also VERY worn where the centre bush locates making it FUBAR!

Yes me. CRturbos.co.uk fitted a ne compressor wheel for me (£100). I can't see the pictures, but the rest of the turbo sound FUBAR anyway.

In my case only the compressor wheel had damage.

Just what i didn't want to hear! i will do my best to get it apart tomorrow and put up some more pics, so we can all see what a knackered turbo looks like lol.
