Just for the fun of it, and out of boredom, Ive looked at seperating the oil for the gearbox and diff so that proper LSD oil can be used and modifying the casing couldnt be easier.
Its just the bearing in the centre web needs to be sealed to prevent the oils mixing. Does anyone know if its possible to get a sealed bearing at all?

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

What about separating the engine from the box with a sealed baffle plate ?

Then converting the engine to dry sump (obviously given the volume remaining ...).

So you can use proper oil in the gearbox and performance oil in the engine.

Doable or what do you think ?

(and why not convert the name of the posts to "crazy projects" ?)

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I recently thought about having a seperate pump and filter for turbo feed. At least if the engine goes bang it won't take the turbo out with it.

Why would it take the turbo? the pump yes, but the oil has to pass through the brick gaurd, then the filter before it gets to the turbo

seal the diff unit itself as the bike engine minis do :) in its own we case, and the whole thing can sit in the oil without issue..

Not bored anymore Paul ?

The dry sump sounds good to me, just have to machine the gearbox to deal with added thickness of the baffle plate

(I'm bored too ! *happy* *happy* )
