Are they all pin drive?

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

Are you wanting to change the pump or the cam?

If it's the pump then the only way to tell is to take it off.

If you're changing the cam, then get a slot drive one and a new pump at the same time.

I was trying to get away without changing the pump however I think the cam will dictate the pump...

How old is the pump? I would call them a service item if the cam is coming out...

On a 1275 I'd agree, but on a 998 with the tappet chest covers, its feasible to swap the cam "properly" e.g. with followers, without stripping the engine.

yep the pump is still showing very good oil pressure. I doubt I will get a cam that I want with a pin drive.

Could you not have yours reground Graham?

That doesn't mean that there isn't wear inside the pump. The van's engine ran good oil preasure (not that we had a gauge) but the inside of the pump was badly worn and scored.

A slot drive 998 oil pump is only £15...

Can you do this with a std cam? I stupidly thought that you needed bigger lobes? but I'm new to all this cam stuff...

Most aftermarket performance cams are reground from standard ones, they just reduce the base circle diameter to "gain" the extra on the lobe to change its shape.

Only if the word "billet" or similar appears in the title (and it's 5 times the price) will it have been ground from a new casting and have the correct base circle diameter.

Not to steal you thread.

But still on the subject of oil pumps.

But does anyone know if you can get a high capacity/flow spider drive pumps still.

Due to the fact my pump needs replacing. And my cam is a old school billet spider drive jobby..

I drill holes in everything..!
