I have my car converted to a turbo now, can notice the turbo kicking in at about 3000RPM.
Were my expectations set to high or is a std Metro setup not to much better than a twin SU setup?*blush*
I am running 5psi now, should i block the standard relief on the plenum and boost up?
I really could do with some input here, was it all worth wile?

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

5psi should see you around 90 horse so depending on the setup, i assume std midget then you should notice a fair difference. power really starts to come with the tweaking though and then you will notice the difference. only way to find out is to make sure its setup well on a RR. you may find it transforms it!

I shall pull the engine out and fix the oil leak at the back of the crank and get myself some dished pistons.
The reason for keeping the boost low is to use the standard metro setup, We have not many RR here in Holland, let alone someone with the knowledge.*frown*
Any way, work in progress.
How can I determine what pistons I need? I know the block has been bored at least once.
The intention is to use the car on the road, and doing an occasional night rally.

Everyone knows that instructions only have to be read if the thing doesn't work....

A decent normally asperated well set up engine is a match for a bog standard turbo lump.

But you say standard metro lump?..just the carbs?..um?

Realy the turbo lump should have a bit more umpf!.

Try upping the boost to 8 or 9 psi..it will be safe for now, especially in these cold conditions.

If you don't have a bleed valve as yet, just get a short length of copper fuel pipe and drill 5/6 holes along it's length. Use this as a bleed valve by fitting it between your turbo and actuator, use jublee clips to fasten it. Have all bar 1 hole uncovered and retest the performance, then 2 holes and so on feeling the boost get higher and the BHP piling up.this acts exactly the same way as a bleed valve.

BE CAREFULL...of detonation, just listen for pinking.

I safely ran a bog standard MG Turbo on 10 psi and was alot cherpier than standard.

Hope i have'nt taught you to suck eggs!

Well Alex, as i is very cold at the moment it acts a bit like an intercooler, the engine draws in very cold air and burns it..

We all know how our cars run well on cold crisp days?

On the same boost my car(modded turbo mini as you know) runs circa 15 degrees cooler on a very cold day on ther same boost.

You are pulling my leg ofcourse.

I was running a decent well setup NA engine with a kent 286 or 386 cam something and a freshly overhauled block.*happy* I have rebuilt it to a turbo now but do not seem to have gained much. I have an incar bleed valve Jon so don't need the pipe you suggested.
However I will install a dump valve shortly, its laying on the table already. I will also block the std ventvalve on the Plenum. So I still have some things to take care of.
Of to Norway now. Cheers you all.
