Hi all,

I bought a 2nd hand box with sc drops, I then get a call saying can i have the drops from that GB back as they are not std ratio and i want to keep them and i can give you a good set of sc drops.

I say no worries if they are as good as these ones.....

so i have now recieved the "std" sc drops and the are 24t input gear, 30 idler and 23 primary, where i believe the std ratio is 24, 31, 24

correct me if i am wrong boys?

also how do i work out the ratio of 3 gears?

thanks guys

Grant

You have 1.04 drops. Itll make a 3.1 into a 3.22 for example

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

There are two types JKD & trannex (minispares style) so if you work out what you have then you can mix and match within that type!

thanks Guys,

From what i can see then i would have the trannex/mini spares one as i have a 24,30 and 23 set which gives looking at the link tom set (thanks Tom) should be a 0.958:1 with my new 3.2:1 gives 3.0656.

do you think this will be to low as i really only wanted to go to 3.2.

if i put my 3.44 back in it gives me 3.295.

im worried going to 3.065 is going to be to much and going to 3.295 might not be enough.

maybe i should just buy a 24 tooth primary to get the std ratio.

what are your thoughts guys?

Thanks again.

Toms link reads primary, idler, input. You have 1.04

I seriously doubt it!

Pauls right. 24-30-23 and a 3.2 gives you a 3.32.

You could buy a 23 primary which would give you the stronger Metro Challenge set or go the cheaper route and buy a 24 input which is only around £40 iirc

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

Theres not a lot in it tbh, but as theres less teeth they are bigger hence stronger.
I wouldnt worry about specifically running 23 teeth. I have a mixture of 23 and 24 on mine to give the ratio I want.

yep you guys are right (stupid me) they are 1.0434.
i really want to drop to 3.2 diff so i might buy the 24 tooth primary to get back to std ratio.
