I'd stick with the standard 3.2:1
I'll be swapping to this next time my engine comes out.

I'm going 2.76 and see how I get on with that. Should have enough torque to pull it well. That's with 1:1 and a 2.54 first. 10" wheels.

Bugger off, I'm getting there.

2.76 in mine its a we bit high at times but I can always change down a gear it will do over 90mph in 3rd.The high gearing means it more economical and quieter.
Allan
Ps I have slightly higher input gears aswell (0.958-1 )
That put the input gearing up by 4.2% I think ??????

I THINK I have the orignal setup in my box (haven't counted the teeth, yet), but when I grenade this one, I'll be switching out to 2.95 with cross-pin... Yeah, baby!

The car will be used for fast road and draging, I was going to use the 3.2:1 but running big means wheel spin on pull of which i want to minimise, there should be plenty of torque as long as the compression is not to low making pull off difficult.

Not sure on revs as engine still being built, as far as power should be near the 200bhp mark

3,2 and a SC/CR box is JUST on the limit in my mind. It will be hard to get rolling unless in anger.

i'm running a standard 3.2 in mine at the minute. going to be changing to a 2.9 when i do the diff soon though. i do a fair old bit of motorway driving though going to shows and stuff so i'd rather sit just off boost at about 70ish hopefully. it hasn't got enough power to be anywhere near competitive in dragging but i'm still gonna have a go all the same cos i enjoy it.

2.9 - logic similar to other peoples above, should have plenty of torque to pull a longer diff, so you can always change down a gear if needed. Personally I have not built mine for drag or traffic light racing so not being able to pull away like a rat up a drainpipe doesn't bother me!!!!

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

im going with a 3:44 when i get mine built this year, building it for dragging and track days so dont want to get caught out. also going for a challenge box with a nice long first gear and 0958:1 drops.

Basically as Jim *smiley* not that im copying mind, its just the best combination for what i want to do.

First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

is he related to the chap that was telling me about his mates mini turbo that had a REAL cooper engine with a turbo on it and had 800bhp,

it would wheel spin and do donuts it was so powerful, they also cut the subframe in half and rewelded it so they could get negative camber on the rear

indeed

Sounds like a relative of the guy who told me that Wil&Ben's mini had a Montego turbo engine in it when it was at York last year...

A fight nealy broke out when I told him he clearly didn't know what either engine looked like!

Turbo tim is pushing 200 now and the engine spec will be very simlular but will all depend on which turbo feels best to drive as tim is playing with alternatives to the T3.

If it helps to know, im running a 3.2 diff, 1/1 drops with 10" wheels and 70mph is pretty much bang on 4000 revs.
