somewhere

just had this through in an e-mail, med 7 port cast head.

A-series experts MED Engineering are developing a new cast alloy cylinder head for the Mini, and here is an exclusive photo direct from MED.

Lee from MED explains that "the photo shows the fully modified head with 6mm stem valves, titanium retainers and lash caps fitted. The rocker arms themselves we have special made with a larger offset on the rollers to accommodate the offset valves in the head.

We are currently working on a fuel injection and ignition management system with Jenvey throttle bodies for the head to enable the head to be fitted without any bonnet modifications but this is a little way off at the moment"

what do we think? a decent alternative to the sc billet one? not including the minisport one now, any ideas on price?

cheers

Would be nice to see some more high res images and some more technical info about it.

looks nice. is that a servo takeoff on the left hand manifold adaptor?

At a guess the port on the end will be suitable for dry decking or will just have a core plug in it if not.

I may have wrongly assumed this, but does the SC billet 7 porter have standard rocker fitment? If so I can see this being a big cost saving for most.

This MED head does look like a minisport copy with all the port size and position problems. I am only guessing from the pictures though.

I went to MED this morning to discuss cylinder heads and had this put under my nose.

To be honest I did not take much notice as I am sticking with the 5 port to test the injection under high boost and 200+hp.

I did, however, order an alloy 5 port and was told by MED that both the 5 port and 7 port alloy heads are made by Pierce in the US.

http://www.piercemanifolds.com/cylinderheads.htm

The rockers are MED's L-D units, standard except for the exhaust ones need to be able to cater for a 1mm offset of the exhaust valve. That is why the exhaust rockers are a slightly different colour.

I have personal been to Piercemanifolds in Gilroy. CA.

The guy who runs it has bought up most of the rights for a lot of old A series stuff. God knows who from.?

But the quality of their stuff is very good indeed.

Not much help about the head I know. But they are a good bunch of guys.

Apparently the ports are smaller than the mini sport head. Supposed to work alot better. Need to take a trip to have a look at this :)

Do as I did. Kill 2 birds with one stone so to speak.

Take the girlfriend away on holiday to CA.
Do the San Fran, Las Vages Yosemite National Park and all that.

Then drive to some of the California Vineyards for wine tasting in the morning. ( for the lady). Also pick up some strawberrys too the ladys love that.

Then stop off in Gilroy. Buy as many heads and manifolds as you can carry.

I bought 6 manifolds and 2 carbs and loads of other stuff to. Just stuck um in my suitcase.

Thats what I did,

Then everyones happy. *wink*

Also WEBCON is the offical UK importer of Pierce stuff I'm led to bellieve.
