As for diconnecting the turbo water pipes to try it, yes that will be fine as lots of blowers run with out water. And i would have thought that if your near your limit on cooling then disconneting the pipes might help. Best 1/4 mile 13.2 seconds @116 mph

i wouldnt mate, those that run without water cooling are set up to run oil cooled. id doubt that those with water cooled do both?

I ran my water cooled t25 without for a bit, turbo technics said it made no difference for a test set up, but will harm the overall reliabily (remember these turbo are designed now to reach many many thousands of miles) |

Spot on SumpNut , it makes no difference but it may not last as long, but we are still talking of a while with out. Best 1/4 mile 13.2 seconds @116 mph

sounds like you could have an air lock somewhere ,is it a standard cooling system? if there are any extra parts involved such as the hoses to cool the turbo make sure they can self bleed by the water feed being lower than the return and overall the highest point of the system being the rad can , also check the gauge using a kettle and thermometer |

I agree, some engines are just cursed with running hot. My old motor ran hot all the time, i had to add an extra rad and a blanking sleeve. In the end i used a front mounted Metro Turbo rad. It was ok then.

well i just lowered my return from the turbo to the top hose, and went for a spin, it sat slightly cooler, and when i burbled along an a road it even cooled the engine. i got back home and left it idleing for about 4-5 mins and it went up to just below the H again, although slower than before

Or try by-passing the turbo? On 17th Nov, 2014 Tom Fenton said:

progress from the weekend, with daves trick the car is much better, runs at or below midpiont, however when in traffic it can still some times creep up, not to much of a problem now, but in hotter temps it could be disasterous.

Nic get those calipers back to minispares. I was talking to them a while ago and they told me that they had had a bad batch of porous calipers. These calipers are actually made by quite a respected company in the field for minispares.
