Just thought I would have a bit of a rant, I was just reading an article in the guardian http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2010/jan...l-investigation.
It accept that the doys are young, however is 5 years enough, sounds like a bit of a jolly to me, they will be out in 2 or 3 years. This in my opinion is not enough! this is not a punishment, they will get all there human rights, tv, food, play games and a load of support from professionals costing us the tax payer a huge amount of money and most of all they will be protected and names changed. They will be in a centre with like for like people, when they are released they will undoubtedly do it again, Rehabilitation does not work, the punishment does not fit the crime.

unfortunatly i feel that termination is the only answer, along with there parents

Also Carl your right on the money about the parents - what the hell were they doing while half heartedly dragging these little shits up?

parents have got a lot to answer for; my brother works in a unit for kids who have been expelled from everywhere else and basically 99% of the issues could be down to the parents

At risk of ostricising myself; I blame the parents more than the kids. At 10,11 years old, if your parent(s) brought you up watching kids TV and with some sensible parental discipline and proper upbringing, you would never do this sh!t. The parents need locking up too - betcha if they had more kids they'd be equally sh!tty kids.

Don't get me wrong, i went to school with some real arses that I hope are locked up (assuming they carried on being arses as "adults") and the boys here need to be punished for what they did - yes, the sentence is lenient, but the fault is initially with the parents in my opinion - "parents" by definition being the people that brought them in to the world, certainly not the people that have "brought them up".

For example; Isnt a murder sentence life.... which in the courts eyes is like 23 years? Out in 10? hardly life.

And like has been said above, get all there gadgets and shit.

I don't want to ostricise myself either. But. their sentence is indeterminate with a minimum of 5 years, so not getting out in 2 or 3 years. Yes their crime was horiffic, but you can't hang a 10 year old that is as bad as them. They are about to go through a massive change in their lives from 10/11 to 16 and if in the right environment there is possibly a chance for them. They will never be able to 'pay' for what they have done and it feels wrong to spend tax payers money on criminals, but if we want to live in a civilised country this is the way it has to be.

I think the prison system as a whole needs to be overhauled. Prison should be prison - locked up 23 hours a day, basic meals and a bucket in the corner. A basic existance at minimal cost to you and me. A regime like this would go a long way towards sorting most of the problems associated with prisons (drugs, mobile phones, gangs etc etc).

On the other hand, I do believe people/prisoners should be given the chance to better themselves while in prison. The opporunities should be there for them to get an education or training so that they stand a chance of not becoming a burden on society when they are relased. Obviously this is a privalidge and should be earnt.

It such a difficult scenario, rightfully the little c*nt should be hanging from their necks, but anyone with that up bringing would be fucked ih head. The parents should be punished. now they are going to spend the next 5 years in an institution that's either going to turn them in to model citizens (doubtful) or raginf nut cases. At the same time this is just one of a number of case in the news this week, which shows that this countries justice system is FUCKED. a mum got 9 years for helping her brain dead son die, where as a 17 year old got 5 years for raping 5 kids under the age of 11. im sorry but FFFFUUUCCCKKK makes me so mad, this country is ran by rapist and pedos.
The americans have it right 50 to life for attempted murder, life without parole for murder, no fucking PS3 or luxurys, hard time thats what this country needs.

A lad out my way stole someones pup dalmation hung it from a tree and set it on fire in a park for no apparent reason, when the dog was found the $hit hit the fan, someone even put up a reward for info on it. The lad is now serving time and has been banned from owning animals! His excuse was "we dont have anything to do round here"

the fucked up thing is that the minute you stand up to these arsehole you get well and truly fucked by the police. a kid breaks your window, give him a good kicking he wont do it again, its because they know they can get away with it. dont get me wrong im not for vigilantly groups, but if the justice system handed out proper sentences we wouldn't have this problem. fuck the over crowding in prisons, put them all in a pen with a couple of watch towers survival of the fittest. screw this human rights bollock, if you commit a crime you have no rights full stop.

Reality is that you can tell which kids are going to be trouble before they are even born.

I blame the breakdown of morality and standards in society in general.

there is a variety of opinions of which or neither right or wrong, i have worked in these institutions that are supposidley there to support young people, instill respect, routines, boundaries to become a law abiding citizen and adhere to the laws and rules within society, like fuck do they work, all they do is breed crime, half of the kids where dealing drugs whilst the others where into prostitution, they get pregnant, then you see their kids in the care system. We used to chuck loads of cash at them to keep the occupied, when they did not get what they wanted, uproar, did you ever go to alton towers, drayton manor, blackpool, go karting and camping in the summer hols, I would be lucky to have had a day out shopping. We are not investing in these young people we are producing criminals, supporting them by giving them accomadation and make excuses it is not their fault, yes parents have a large part to play, but young people have their own minds and no exactly what they are doing and know they will only get a slap.

Looking at the way pensions are going I'm considering turning to crime when I retire, the average prison is way better than most elderly care homes.

a close friend of mine grew up in a damn rough area of coventry, & i agree with the way she comes across

her old man was inside & his thought that was passed onto his daughter was this

a council estate has 2 sides to the street, as are the poeple,

you have the ones that go to work & look after there home/garden neighbors
& mind there own business

& the others that are fighting/fcking aruguing with each other & reck the houses they are asighned & thrive on the so called rough/hard reputation of the area

he said prison is the same! if you wanna move on you can,
if you dont you'll carry on the way you are & get worse!

& its not his 1st time inside which is sort of a contradiction but its basicly true!

& his daughter mint! lol

at least all of us lot are srt of sane!
