I have a problem that I can not seem to get rid of. I have a
standard metro turbo engine fitted with K&N, bailey dump valve, playmini exhaust, 10mm fuel and retrun lines, standard metro turbo petrol pump. The boost is running low.

I have asked before but hope you may have more ideas as it will be the scrap yard or the matches!!!

After the engine has warmed up there is a serious lack of power, it just cuts out. It has happened before but would take a couple of hours driving, now it can be within five minutes or so.

It seems as if the float chamber is not filling up quickly enough after the engine as been run for ok for several miuntes. Have tried to look at carb but seems to be a sealed unit so I cannot refurbish.

Can you also tell me where is the bleed valve supposed to go? I have it on the end of the rubber pipe at the end of the actuator.

Wondering whether a rolling road session would help, but worried they might thrash the bollox of it and do more damage.

Any help would be much appreciated Dave of Cannock *happy*

If you've asked before, what were the suggestions, and what have you done in an attempt to solve?

ps carb is sealed, but all you have to do is get it on a bench and put a hacksaw cut in the heads of the screws and remove them...

It's permanent enough... Mine's been rigged up like that for two years now!

All I will say is now you know what fixes it, make sure you have a steel tee-piece (not a windscreen washer plastic one) and the pipes are properly secured onto the tee-piece.
If it blows off whilst under high boost, it'll lean out your motor and probably take a piston or gasket out...

normally turn to the hammer if don't fit, so the hacksaw sounds like it will do the trick. sorted.

ah the old t-piece trick

you put a t-piece inbetween the plenum pipe which goes to the fuel reg to the carb float chamber
this pressurises the float chamber when the turbo comes on boost
or it'll die as no fuel can get out of the carb
that is if you have the wrong carb to plenum gasket with a missing hole or a dodgy carb (some just refuse to work properly even after a full rebuild)

TD has written a really helpful piece on it it's around here somewhere
