you lightly solder the wire then crimp the ends over with pliers then heat the soldered wire for a good connection

nice one, so just tin the end, or apply a little extra to help it run onto the terminal?

Im sure after one or two it will be plain sailing

I bought a set of £1 crappers from ebay for doing those sort of terminals - just basic crap ones. They need crimping as well as soldering.

I use some similar to the 'D1' tool with reasonable success, although the 'MP71' aren't too expensive and may be easier/more reliable.

I've got the "MP71", well worth the extra few quid over the "D1" (I have this too)

If you have a few to do the MP71 is a good investment. I've had mine nearly 10 years now.

Ive used a couple of Sureseal connectors that used this type of connector, Tin the wire, then put in connector & crimp carefully with snips - then Soldering iron on top, and add a touch more solder - they're solid. Just make sure you remember to pop the waterproof little bit on first, it's crimped on also,., *smiley*

That sounds more like a riffle than a crimping tool.

I have the mp71 too. have used it successfully on sureseal and superseal connectors. Also works very well on non insulated connectors. We were told by our wiring guy at work not to tin the wire as its meant to bite into the wire. Maybe do it afterwards but not before.
