So, a Ford Ka of 2001 vintage belonging to a family menmber is suddenly costing a lot of money. First a 'brake hose' gave out and was replaced and the system re-bled.

Six weeks later, the brake light on the dash was flickering again (low fluid) and the mechanic (different from 6 wks earlier) replaced the rear slaves and shoes.

Now, three weeks later, the brake light is flickering again, and it's low on fluid...

So, is there a 'weak point' on the brakes on these? The car has done 45K miles, and spending 300quid in the past 10 weeks on brakes alone is proving hard to swallow...

I've already advised that they should always demand to see the failed parts that were replaced, and that if they 'cant be found' that this is a sign to tell them they've just lost a customer. But what about this problem. I'm thinking give the last garage first opportunity to take a look - in case it is something they replaced.

I'm just wondering if there is something more usual that goes wrong with these.

And yes, I know it's a Ford Ka, and that is wrong in itself - but I'm not sure me delivering such a message will help identify the problem. *wink*

Cheers,
