Somewhere around Swindon

mate has rang who has a mini30 1989, the sidelights rear lights and dash lights are not working

i am assuming its a fuse but what and where is it on a 89? my manuals are in storage at the moment and i might pop over after work and have a look

4 fuse box on the bulkhead, from memory I think its the lowest one of the 4, but there are only 4 to choose from so I'm sure you'll find it.

Worth checking light switch also if fuses are ok mate. The switches are shite.

where the loom splits left and right at the front there are dodgy push in connectors, mine used to short blowing the fuses when these got wet

EDIT: hang on im thinking of headlights, different fuse i think

It may be worth changing the swich. I can't remember If I had back lights or not but the fronts certainly wern't working so changed the switch and everything was fine.

Ive had loads of problems with my lights.
I tracked it down to poor connections on the bulkhead fusebox. Ive also put a set of relays in now to stop the switch burning out.

after metering it all it turned out to be a broken wire in the loom, semi removed from car and soldered a new piece in took less time that trying to work it out from wanky haynes manual
