Has anyone alse had a problem with there tyres rubbing against there coilovers on the back?

Im running the Gaz offset shocks, shuddersfield beam, the original Mambas (I believe these had a larger offset than the newer ones?), and minifins (copy).

The rear camber hasn't been setup yet, but by eye the wheels looks vertical.

The only way I can see around it is to fit wheel spacers, but just wondered if anyone has had a simlar problem before? And what kind of clearance can you get away with safely between the shock and tyre?

Cheers
Matt

I'm not sure if the outside diameter of the spring varies between the 1.9 inch and the 2.25 inch internal diameter springs, but could that be causing an issue?

which springs do you have?

I ask because I may be in this situation in a month or so if I don't pay attention to this threads outcome!

Not too sure on the spring rate. I'll try and have a look.

I had a shuddersfield beam with offset spax on my old cooper years ago, it was fine with the std rover minilights and yoko 510s, but i had a nice set of 6" minilights in white given me so thought id whack them on

Took it to a local garage to fit, they swapped the tyres over, and fitted them, never checking for clearance

Anyway, half way home doing about 50 i noticed a bit of a haze in my rear view mirror, then suddenely a huge pop, followed immediately by another, both rear tyres had blown, veered sideways into the oncoming lane of traffic, narrowly missing 2 cars, scary scary stuff...

Have you turreted the rear wheel arch tubs for the coil overs?. I had to on my old shell with a speedex beam (same as yours)? The KAD beam runs a wider track and you don't need to however.

It is a straight bit of box section with two rose joints that have in-situ capability for track with a bracket at either end.

Ah ha cheers

I was hoping mine just happened to be a KAD beam as although similar to the shuddersfield one there are a few differences, and apparently it has a wider track

However, looking at the pictures it blatently isnt
