can get cheep metro turbo 1.3 butt chains have snapped
can anyone tell me what would need replacing and how much maybe??

Duplex chain is about 25 quid.. but I would expect the rest of the engine to be pretty unloved if the timing chain is bust.

id pull the head of and have a quick look for damage if your lucky damage could be minimum

but as said sounds to be an unloved engine.

Dependes on how fast the engine was going when it broke to how likely there is damage.

The only things I think that could have happened are:

Con-rods could have hit the cam lobes;
valves could have hit pistons.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

thnks 4 all the help.. butt after all that found out chains snapped then it was fixed and run for 18 months after but the man took chains and sprocket off so it needs duplex chain + sprocket and some othere little stuff and got it for £50 *happy**happy**happy**happy* cant complain

I saw one years ago on a friends 998 road car.

He was pretty lucky, as I seem to remember he fitted a new chain and it hadn't bent any valves.

IIRC,

the valves will miss on most standard cams, however I'm sure the lobes will hit the rods on all 1275's (unless you are incredibly lucky!
