Hello all

I have recently given a complete MPI set up (everything except the car) to my mum. She has fitted this to a fibreglass pick-up (a Mini Phoenix Pick-Up), and sorted all of the earth contacts accordingly (note that everything else on the car is functioning as it should). Before being stripped from the last car, everything worked perfectly, but we are now having a couple of issues.

When the alarm is set, the LED glows rather than flashing. The alarms still functions if the ignition is switched on without disarming first.

On pressing the dis-arm button on the fob, the system takes a few seconds (up to 10) before you hear the alarm box (sounds like a relay) clunk, and the light goes off. The indicators flash once as they should at this point.

On arming the alarm, the indicators don't flash at all (they should three times). As I mentioned earlier, the light then glows rather than flashing.

And finally, the engine runs pretty roughly. It started first time, but sounds a little like a V-twin, and holds revs. Blipping the revs results in the engine holding the maximum revs that we blipped it to.

I assume that the running issues are likely to be caused by the immobiliser. Any ideas, or has anyone seen anything like this (either the alarm, or running issues) previously?

Cheers

Matthew

Matthew, can't help with the running issues, but if the doors are open on my car the alarm light stays on constant instead of flashing - do you have door switches fitted?

Oh, and hows the marcos coming along? :)

immobaliser wont cause those running issues, you have a wiring fault. probably an earth you ahve missed.

Thanks

Graham - I never had the door switches fitted in its last body... but I know she has fitted them this time and the doors aren't yet fitted. Worth a try to start with.

The Marcos is getting there, albeit slower than Id like. Engine is about 80% done...

The running is more of a worry - but we'll wait till everything else is right before we care too much. Double check all those earth's again me thinks...

Running issues sound like an air leak on the inlet to be honest

Thanks guys, your information has helped me get the alarm working properly. It was the door switches [no doors fitted at the moment].

Glad at least that was something simple :)
