has anyone on here used the decompression plates (the sort u get with supercharger kits) aswell as low comp pistons and head in order to run mega boost.

beacuse you can grind the head out and get below 7:1 with 14cc pistons if super low comp is your bag :) AlexF |

has anyone on here used the decompression plates (the sort u get with supercharger kits) aswell as low comp pistons and head in order to run mega boost. im not planning on doing this i just wondered whilst at work bored today whether any1 uses them on turboed motors. if not why? is there only so low on compression you want to go? cheers ![]() yes rick ,i built a decompression plate for my turbo 500 twin bike ,running it between two of the original gaskets ,i made 135 bhp on 15 psi ,its run this way for 7 years with no problems . i ran 2 head gaskets on my mini for a while .up to 10 psi 150 bhp no problems . my friend john still runs 2 head gaskets with no probs at 8 psi . the audi rs2 runs a 2.3 litre at 325 bhp approx ,and uses a steel decomp plate ..as standard . thats about all i have on it .:) oh i tell a lie ,the fiat 16v headed a series i built had a 1.5mm decompression plate ,9ran for all of 5 minutes lol),also ,a engine i had a hand in in the 80's had a 1.7mm stainlesss decomp plate on a suck through setup ..running 15 psi and methanol injection ,it never blew a head gasket. dont run an alloy decomp plate :) mine fucked right up, stainless one was ok :) turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

I didt it as a trial for my engine with the supercharger before I went grinding the head etc. It worked ok but on srtipping the engine it had been blowing between cylinders 2 and 3. If you want one I can sell you one he he |
