This is not true. Driveshafts are the same, apart from early Cooper S. On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:

I've only ever seen these thin shafts on pot joint cars, seemed to be the economy biased cars with long final drives. Why they are thinner I have no idea.

Thin shaft / std. late shaft. Thin: 18,3mm dia, Std: ~25mm dia (didn't clean it to measure) @Tom Fenton: My car (early-ish 1984) was originaly equiped with a 2,95 diff & thin drive shafts! Sounds plausible :) Cheers, Jan Edited by Asphalt on 14th Feb, 2010. [X] nail here for new monitor |

Would there not be an increased risk of snapping these? If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

what Tom is refering to is the time i parted a shaft off to sleeve and lengthen for some chap, as i suspected it was harder/tougher on the skin than the core, this was backed up by my trying to eat some of the outer layer, it was very hard to bite a decent size piece off, but i could nibble away at the core with no bother, |

Somehow that just sounds bad and wrong Carl. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |
