There is lots of different opinions on what these engines actually where. Some say they had hybrid turbos, some say not. I know they had undercrown cooling, as I have seen one of there blocks. This alone makes me think that there were running pretty hight boost (around 20psi???)

I know the gear set was different too, they had a much longer 1st and 2nd gear due to the fact they had rolling starts. They also had some kind of baffaling in the gearbox casing. Seen no photo's of these, but know someone who use to have a pair.

Any one else know any facts on these?

my understanding of a hybrid is that it is stronger than a standard turbo, they use different turbine wheels dont they?? and i think they have 360degree bearings and can handle higher boost pressures, im sure someone will correct me lol

generally speaking its the internals from a bigger turbo in the casing of the smaller turbo.. so it can flow higher powers but have less lag.

I was told by a reliable source that they used a standard T3, apart from a 360 thrust bearing. This was from an ex Howley employee who actually built and raced the engines.
They did indeed have undercrown cooling, forged pistons, billet centre main strap, forged rods, crank etc etc
As you can imagine when these engines were pushing out close to 220hp these where full race items !
