I am currently swapping to a pre-verto set up with bits that I have in stock from previous non-turbo builds, currently I have a untra-light steel flywheel unknown origin, standard friction plate new, steel backplate (minispeed I think) std pressure plate, two drive straps ( I know I should 3 but I have only got enough for 2) The problem I think is with getting the correct spacing on the drive strap connection to the back plate. I have shimmed in approx 1mm incurments from 7mm to 14mm & either the clutch plate spins when the road wheel is turned with 7 to 10mm shim or when increasing the shims the whole assembly span, probelm solved I thought, but the cove plate won't fit as now the pressure plate fouls the cover plate. So in conclusion HELP, does anybody have the dimensions for shims/spacers so I can get it working. I am going to pull it apart @ the weekend just to be sure its assembled correctly, which I'm sure it is.

Thanks

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

in short, if you have shimmed the flywheel correctley the straps will have no bend in them when the pressure plate is bolted up

if there is any doubt of the pressure plates history.... miles, years etc ditch it and see my advice below this could well be where one of you problems ... problem lie!

if you are going turbo go for a grey cover as a start! and the clutch plate AP race, if its a not too tuned N/A motor an orange cover will be ok and a fast road plate would suffice

in a perfect world 3 straps are better available from minispares north, cheap as chips
