Made it home from glasgow, just! broke down at two roundabouts i think just down to the tuning being really poor.

basically wheni got home i looked under the ifller cap to find mayo. I made it a 3 hour drive back from glasgow at slow speeds, the water hasnt gone down in the radiator at all. The fuel pressure is 3.5 bang on from the regulator, could the tuning be letting fuel in too much, and that making mayo with the oil? is that possible?

its from using the car for many short journeys where the engine doesnt get chance to warm up properly

change and flush it and do the filter

my step dads mini does when he just uses to pop to and from work (7mins)

totally agree, make sure you have a hot thermo stat at least a 82 deg with out any holes in, and keep the heater tap open for cuirculation.
cold oil will soon turn into mayo if it doesnt get hot enough to evaporate the condensation build up from the oil.

every one seems to talk about mayo this time of year must be due to the lack of snow lol.!!!!!

Yep i have the same problem and i've found if i cover the oil cooler with foil it helps loads...

yep mine still does this? head gasket has been changed, oil has been changed twice! and still i get mayo in the cap?

i drive 15 miles to work which i would have thought would be far enough to warm things up properly?

although saying that the temp guage hardly moves and the heater produces luke warm air at its best!!!

Staffordshire or Northamptonshire

you got to make sure you get your engine and oil hot enough. this drives of both moisture and hydrocarbons from your oil.

On our turbo cars i'd stronly suggest you fit an accurate oil and water temp gauge to see exactly whats its doing.

I would not recommend not running a thermostat in a road car either. Its fine on a race car as you tape of the radiator to ensure correct running temp, but this is not practicle on the road.

I'd say you most likely need some or all your oil cooler blanked of in cold temps as well.

yep you shouldnt need a oil cooler in this weather, try fiiting a oil temp sender as well to give accurate oil temp readings, most people would be suprised how long oil temp even in a turbo car takes to heat up.
my NA 1380 at 4000rpm would take 20-30 miles to reach 90 deg c and thats with out a oil cooler.

engine temps need to be atleast 80 deg and above to stop the mayo forming.
