First off, I gave this thread a generic title as I'm sure I will have plenty of problems with making this loom.

The car is a 1991 carb with a two clock cluster. The instrument set-up will be changing though.

So here's number one. I am making the loom from scratch and I want to use a toggle switch panel for a lot of things.

I want to wire the headlights without the dip/dim relay. Am I correct in thinking that if I provide an ignition live to the stalk, with the stalk in the normal position I get 12v out of the blue/red wire for the dip beams and with the stalk in any other position I get 12v out of the purple wire for the full beams. Therefore, I can use these to trigger a normal relay for each light circuit. Obviously there will be a switch in series for the dip beam.

Copy a MK1 loom, very basic and very simple

I seriously doubt it!

Thanks Paul, I might have a look at the diagram. How do they operate the main beams though? Is it by the indicator stalk or a toggle switch?

Its a switch next to the clutch pedal operated by your foot, but you can put it to a stalk, toggle switch or whatever you want

I seriously doubt it!

I would prefer to keep it in the stalks so I can flash retarded Irish drivers that sit in the overtaking lane on motorways

Any other opinions about my original suggestion?
