I heard the other day that one of the properties of leaded petrol was that it helped prevent carb icing, no idea if it's true or not so I thought I'd post it and see if anyone knew anything about it.

I really only drove my car back when leaded was available. In the winter, it was a right pain in the ass with freezing up.

202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

IMO carb icing is much worse with modern fuel -in my club, using old Zenith carbs its a right pain as Stevie says, except that not too many of our club go out unless the sun shines.

I cant see how its a fuel issue unless it's a diesel car your talking about and ice forms in the fuel lines and blokes the injectors.

For petrol cars its the moisture in the air being super cooled due to ventury affects that will cause you the problem. I did not think petrol was hydro scopic like diesel fuel is.
