I heard the other day that one of the properties of leaded petrol was that it helped prevent carb icing, no idea if it's true or not so I thought I'd post it and see if anyone knew anything about it. Isambard Kingdom Brunel said:

I really only drove my car back when leaded was available. In the winter, it was a right pain in the ass with freezing up. 9.85 @ 145mph

IMO carb icing is much worse with modern fuel -in my club, using old Zenith carbs its a right pain as Stevie says, except that not too many of our club go out unless the sun shines. |

quick boost usually melted it though 9.85 @ 145mph

I cant see how its a fuel issue unless it's a diesel car your talking about and ice forms in the fuel lines and blokes the injectors.
