They are aluminium alloy, you will need an AC TIG welder to weld them.

you beuts!

i have modded one previously with chemical metal & it was strong as you like but i think i'll weld these i have a mate that'll

slip it in his lunch our LOL

he's a good welder but he was unsure of the metal type himself! now i know he'll know what to do with it

what i'm doing is modding the plenum/intake pipes! joining them with a 180degree silicone tube for the time being

i'll get my intercooler mounted in the engine bay.....

until i sort some solid intercooler pipes which another chap is going to bend up for me & some silicone tubing

then i'm in a position to just hook everthing up

you chaps know what i'm up to anyhoo

many thanks again!!!!!truely invaluble bunch here!!!!!

i'm unsyre at the moment where i'll mount it

the one i have is a series 2 rsturbo one, not big but they flow well, i have to hoax it out of the depths of crap in the garage grrrr i wish i was'nt such an untidy sod LOL

i was thinking od putting it where the OE airfilter box is as there is a hole in the inner wing there & i can put a cold air feed pipe (vacum cleaner tubing LOL) to feed a cold air supply over the cooler,

i could make a shroud out of stainless or mild steel sheet in a very shallow triangle shape that the tube could attach too so the cold air is directed right over the fins of the cooler, hope that makes sence

i'll get bits mounted & se how it pans out! either way an intercooler fitted with no air leaks has gotta be better than one not fitted!

its just the weather holding me back as i'm working on the metro outside *surprised*/

That's right behind your oil cooler *oh well*

It's a much bigger engine bay than the mini, but you are a bit limited in places for an i.c

have a look ath our metro van thread for how we did ours

yep had a squizz at yours & its nicely placed

i want to keep my standard metro rad,

i was thinking of putting it right behind the passenger side headlight, tucked up in the corner, where the cold air comes into feed the air filter box!

i know its not in a direct airflow postition but i have a bit of ducting pipe knocking about & can direct plenty of air to that corner!

got my cheapo engine breathers yesterday £10 for two *surprised*P they're not like the k&n or pipercross style they are plastic with the filter foam insde so almost look a factory fit! which is what i'm trying to do with the metro, keep it looking OE

i like the way you've done your pipes on yours! so i'll be heading down a simular route only differance is i have some of that crackle finish paint for the pipes, hope it works i've had it on the shelf for 6 years or more LOL

There's not much room behing the headlight tbh, the inner wing slopes up quite steaply.

If you move the oil cooler, the RS turbo one should fit vertically along side the rad. pipe runs aren't great though and you have to remove the bonet catch.

there's scope for moving the rad backward a bit and putting a slim one in there.

or putting one under the vent on the drivers side of the bonnet
