lads i have a 1300 metro engine on the floor in my garage & want to start it up or turn it over on the starter, ican turn it by hand with some effort but it wont turn over on two known to be good starter motors what would cause this?

its on the gearbox, out of gear etc etc

also how do i start it once i'm over the 1st prob, i've not strted a motor like this before

i have a ford cargo battery for power *surprised*P

a make shift pop bottle fuel tank

do i put a 12v feed from the batt to the coil?

i need a bit of a run down on how to do it as for some reson when a motor is in a car i understand whT TO DO but on the garage floor i just get confused, i think i have certain learning difficulties my brain works in strange ways

cheers all

King Gaycharger, butt plug dealer, Sheldon Cooper and a BAC but generally a niceish fella if you dont mind a northerner

make sure you have a good earth from your engine back to your battery.

12v to the coil, 12v to the starter and then 12v to the solenoid when you want to turn it over.

cheers again mr bellamy

the engine turns over smooth by hand but its struggling to turn over on the starter? i'm using a head bolt/stud as earth!

but it only rotates half an engine rotation? could a bad earth cause the starter to struggle that much? i have tried the starters on anther engine in a car & they work fine!

i'll pull the plugs to see if it rotates better without them in?

then try it all hooked up to try to fire it up

nice n loud straight out the LCB for the neighbors
