Hi

I finished building my engine on thursday on a day off, so trial fitted the maniflods and carb onto it.

The problem I got was that the inlet manifold flanges were thinner than the metro exhaust manifold flanges, so when the nuts were fully tight the big washers didn't touch the inlet manifold, so it was loose. there was about a 3-4 mm gap between the inlet manifold and the head.

Whats the easiest fix for this please? I was thinking either cut down the exhaust manifold to match the inlet manifold, or get hold of some special washers if they exist?

Cut some washers up and tack them to the thicker washers

have the exhaust manifold machined down, at least this way you'll know it'll be dead flat and won't have to worry about it being slightly warped.

wished i'd done mine this time but i keep forgetting about it till i come to do the nuts up.
