Just to add the belt lines up fine with the crank pulley. So there's something odd about the head?? |

I found a 2.5 -3 mm ish spacer plate on the old water pump i had on my standard 998 engine so when changing the pump i put it back in behind the pully wheel, could this be the problem?
Cheers, Andrew

You have this problem if you fit a 940 head to a 998, the simplest solution id to fit the smaller pulley. Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

Hi thanks for the help, unfortunatly i cant space the pulley away because if i do the pulley gets too close to the supercharger belt.

The white plastic fans were factory standard for a while here in Oz, but they deteriorate with heat & age, so they are known as the exploding white plastic fans. On 24th Dec, 2008 Nic said:

I would grind a notch on the head & maybe slim down the back edge of the pulley.

The earlier cars used a smaller pulley without problems, I would get hold of one of these and then job done!

I have a pulley that is 98mm accross, so if your's is 120mm then problem solved.

I have seen the yellow fans catch the fan cowling and still have all the blades, this white one just clipped the fual line when I moved it a little and lost ALL the blades in a split second!! On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:
