Alright chaps,
Building my motor back up but with SC drops. Came to fit the primary (a Minispares Evolution Primary). I fitted the inner thrust washer, primary, outer thrust, then the retaining plate an there was no way I could fit the C clip, the setup was too wide for me to get to the notches in the crank. Removed the outer (clutch side) thrust washer and it has given me a perfect endfloat of 4thou.

Is this right and how the minispares set should be ran? With just the one thrust washer on the block side of the crank?

I just wondered with these being on a different bush system to standard, where the bush extends past the clutch splines. It just seems a hell of alot of material to be removing from the thrust washers to even make them fit, let alone give me a reasonable endfloat clearence.

Many thanks
Tom

not sure I understand you. I have never seen any primary gear setup which require an outer thrust....

Thats how I found it when i split it down last year. It's been running like that for a year nearly!

Aslong as I'm OK running it as it stands now (thrust washer - primary - retainer - C clip) Then I'm a happy chap!

The top hat (rear) bush has failed!!!! get it replaced !!!

Another thing, is the thrust washer infront of the primary gear on the right way round? there is a chamfer on the inner edge on one side only. The chamfer side should face towards the engine

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Thats an old picture procket, of the old setup with the std drop gears I was using at the time.

I'm now using SC drop gears from Minispares with brand new bushes.

Alls solved anyway, after a phonecall from Benross My problem is resolved :)

Cheers,
Tom
