Hi all,

I have been thinking about it for a while now, and only actually looked at it properly last night when out in the workshop, and I am not sure of the practicality of it now, and whether or not it is going to look total gash......

I am looking at fitting 3 seats in my mini, two at the front, and one in the back in the middle, now here are the seats I will be having

But after offering it up etc, it sits quite high on the current seat support tray, now if I was to cut this away, is it still structurally good enough to fit a seat to the Floor at the back of the mini, haven’t had any experience in ever relocating seats, or chopping the inside up in a mini, just wondering if this impairs is structure or Road legality of it ? It is also a convertible mini.

Just after anyone’s thoughts on this, or if anyone has seen it done before etc,

Cheers, Jamie.

You can cut out the overhang of the seat base but underneath the rest of it is the subframe, so you can't

I seriously doubt it!

It would be much easier to just throw away your front passenger seat. that way it will take you about 5 minutes to do the 3 seat conversion

As Dave points out, under the seat base is the subframe, so it not a flyer if using that seat. Something a lot flatter may work.

Thank's Paul for the OK for the Angle grinder to come out should it have too.... haha,

apbellamy, not a bad idea, quick way to make it a 3 seater,

Wil_h appreciate the input *smiley*

And theoneeyedlizard, its either no seats in the back or one, as i wont ever be having four in the car, and when attending meet's / show's there is normally 3 of us, Plus curious as to what it may be like.

Near Paris - France

That is very different and a good way to allow for a fellow in the back and 4 or 6 points seat belts in the front.

But seat height is gonna compromise everything and if not the height then distance between rear and front seats.

So I think it is not a goer unfortunately ...

You ain't going to be able to have any fun with the misses in the back if you go down the 3 seater route!

Hey cheers all again for comments back,

I am not to worried about the wieght on this one, as its mine and dads project, and wieght / speed is not a factor with this project, How ever the wieght wil be a concern when i do mine end of this season,

the third seat in the back was for for a show and practicality of not wasting it sort of thing,

Advantage cheers for comments, Seat height is a major issue, to cut away the current bench seat support would give me alot more room, but still i am not sure, it could either work and look great, or not, and look total gash, i am swayed towards it looking total gash at the moment......

Cheers maccamcvey and Oli *smiley*

Rob, its a convertible so all will still be good, roll the roof down *smiley*

Hey Brett,

If i was doing any cutting i was looking at if i could take out the support for the bench seat in the rear, so yeah the base for the rear bench seat.
