Carb and Head Soaks

Does anyone cold soak thier carbs & heads to get the crap off? If so what do u use?

I've used the cans of spray wynnes carb cleaner b4 as it does a bloody good job on carbs, but i'd like to be able to shove them into soak if i dont have time to do them there and then.

red diesel is supposed to pretty good for soaking stuff in. i use paraffin and an old paint brush to clean my blocks and stuff before i paint em, nice and cheap and better than gunk.

i havent heard of this before, do you just literally put your carb/head/what ever into a bucket or similar in diesel or something to clean the crap off? whats THE cheepest thing to use? can mr.joe bloggs get hold of red diesel?

normal diesel is just as good.
or paraffin is good as well, and cheaper than diesel, just as you say, just dump the dirty bits into a bucket of it and then give them a wipe off when you drag em out again.
diesel is also very good for un-seizing things too.

yeah anyone can buy red diesel, paraffin's just as cheap and easier to get hold of, think i pay about ?2.50 a gallon.

will only soaking it work then, if i was to paint my block could i like erm use it on a cloth or something? lol, also my engine bay for when i paint that, will it strip the paint yes?
obviusly disposing of the cloth properly afterwards
oh and what do you do with it once you have finished with it? lol

put some in a spray bottle aswell, it cuts right through all the shit. i used it to clean down my engine bay aswell, didnt do any damage to my paint though.

just burn it when you've finished with it...lol
