I'm new to the whole turbo thing, been running a Vmax charger kit, however I've come to my senses! I would like to acheive 150bhp+, but really dont want a T3 setup due to the lag isuue. I am serioiuslly considering the mirage kit, with a T2 hybrid (T25 internals and compressor housing, but I keep reading how good and efficent the GT17 is.

My question is, can the GT17 be mounted to the mirage manifold if the bulkhead is cut and boxed. I really dont mind the cutting and welding if it creates more space and clearence. Would I have to modify the fitting flange and make my own end plate and down pipes

Is there any other options out there, I know Mike Race as a GT17 on a modified the Metro T3 manifold, is this just as easy and efficent?

As you are prepared to cut the bulkhead, I wouldn't bother getting the mirage kit. The downpipe will be of no use to you as the GT1752 has a completely different flange.

The GT1752 can be fitted on the Metro manifold simply by putting an adapter plate on or notching all the mounting holes. I think Robert has pics of a notched Metro manifold in his GT17 thread.

Also, Matty just built a Mirage-esque manifold for a GT1752 with no bulkhead box. He hasn't monted the actuator yet though.

I thought the T2 flange is the same size as the GT1752. Bolts straight on?

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

The GT17 is the same fitting as the T2 9assuming a 4 bolt pattern), but with a mirage manifold the GT17 hits the block, IIRC.

I did mean the turbine outlet flange, as I was referring to the downpipe.

Then I talked about the Metty manifold needing slots

I think you may be able to grind away part of the block and compressor housing to get it to fit.
However then you may need to relieve the bulkhead to give enough clearance for the otherside of the compressor housing

There is a fair sized lump on the GT1752 compressor housing that can be thinned out, and the block is also plenty thick in this area to favour a slight relief (assuming Mirage manifolds).

Its the hump above the fuel pump hole, Ive had to take loads off mine in the past to get various turbos to fit
