hi guys i have a 1275 gt block wit metro turbo pistons, cam and rockers and an avonbar phase 2 head, but i need a crank? would a gt one do or will ii need to upgrade it? i currently have a t3/t4 hybrid charger but i tink its 2 big so i'm gonna get a t2 or equivalent, any advise would be appreciated as i only need a crank, also i'm from ireland!

I have a standard GT one going spare, postage won't be cheap to Ireland though.

I would need to dig it out and check it's condition though

sorry meant to say i have a gt one! but i was told it wont work cos it has to be hardened??

Standard crank should be fine. Not all Metro Turbos had hardened cranks.

THANK YOU, i was told by a company that builds engines over here its needed! will start boltin it together so. i'll put up pics soon

isnt the gt crank a higher grade steel but the big ends dont have the radius in the corner witch can be a breaking point

Even if it is, it's revs that will kill a crank, not boost. I've never heard of anyone braking a crank, it'll be fine.

was offered a hardened ine from a 1380 from a friend so will use that and keep my gt one as spare or visa versa.....

As far as I know, all Mini cranks bar Cooper S are EN16T. The jury is still out on the Metro Turbo one.

I think the general verdict is standard cranks are fine
