At long last, my container arrived tuesday afternoon!

I'm soooooo happy to see my mini again, and it all arrived safe and sound, despite the container now sporting a 20ft long tear down one side that wasn't there when I loaded it!!!

It didn't want to fire up - the battery seems to have objected to the -20degreesC conditions and given up - but I don't care! It's here!!!

Now i need to start selling some parts to pay the storage charges incurred whilst customs decided if they were going to release it or not (?500 for nine days storage!!!!!!!)

Glad everything arrived safely Dave. Since you are looking to unload some of your stuff did you bring over any stock Metro Turbo Plenums? I am looking to mofify one for a dump valve.

silly question dave but who are the other minis in the pic? did you just transport yours or was there room in the container for one more or so ?

Ben: The container pices were taken after i'd unloaded the 10 1275 engine/gearbox assemblies and boxes of other bits, so it was pretty full...

and the other one is a future project car - Vtec turbo - one for once i'm settled and have the workshop built however!!!

it takes some bottle to up root and i am a touch jellouse to say the least. thought about it when i was younger but i had a lot of commitment a few years ago.

I'd have been a fool not to have tried it.

I miss a lot - like friday nights out with the lads; family, phonecalls from jimster every day asking how to make his car even better, etc...

At the end of the day, If i lived in Newcastle, and had moved to Cornwall, it'd take me 8 hours to drive back oop norf. As it is, I'm a 7hr flight from manchester (sort of!). The world isn't that big!

I'm just glad they speak English - well sort of! LOL!

2 years ago I moved from South of Birmingham where I grew up to Rotherham South Yorkshire for a job. Nowhere near as big a move as to the US but similar things happen-
you know nobody. At all.
You don't know your way around, so you get lost on the way back from Tesco and have to consult a map to get back to your own house.

But most annoying thing I found was to do with cars....whereas where you lived before, you know from 20yrs of life where the good scrappys are, and which factors has a good range of spares, and where the local nut and bolt shop is. All these things you don't realise what a pain in the arse it is when you have to find it all out over again.

So Dave I don't envy you in having to start from scratch in many ways, but on the other hand going to live in the US is a chance in a thousand and for my money fair play for biting the bullet and going for it.

Dave I still call you mate! Didn't know you missed me that much, maybe you should learn to click the reply button in outlook more often!!!

Hope you had some good antifreeze in your motors.
