Hey all,
Was wondering if this cam is really worth the money? £240 seems a tad on the steep side?
What other options are there that show similar results and how do they compare performance wise?

Thanks Guys
Arran

It's a good cam, but at that price I'd not bother. If it's a near standard or even quite well tuned motor I'd stick a NA MG Metro cam in there, they can be picked up second hand quite easily.

If you have a blank Avonbar will do you an exchange for £122. Or there is the MED T3 which I believe is a very similar profile.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

This is pretty much what i was thinking however im aiming for around 150bhp out of a 1293, so would the metro cam be enough?

Thinking around 18 psi of boost,

are there other offerings from Kent and Piper ect that get used in turbo cars?

The thing is, as the supply of A Series cams to reprofile dries up all new cams are all going to be in the £240 range.

Avonbar do not have any old cams and Kent/Piper/?? who cut the cams for them are saving what they have for their own sales.

I should expect that you will smash that figure with 18psi of boost and an n/a mg metro cam as long as the rest of the package is upto scratch.

So why has the price of a re profiling of your own cam also jumped up?
is it worth spending £120 to get it reground does it really offer that much of an advantage over the MG metro one Phil suggested
?

The Phase 2 is a 200+hp turbo cam, whereas the MG Metro cam is a good turbo road cam. Not sure what the maximum power would be but certianly good for 150hp.

To make full use of the Phase 2, you need a well modified head.

So is my perception of the Phase 2 potential flawed?

If you go through Ian at AVR technogolies, he can do the phase 2 cam for £91 on reprofile or £200 for billet.

OK, so if I get down on my hands and knees and beg your forgiveness for using the "200+hp" term can we let it go *happy* *happy* *happy*

T3Tone runs a 266 cam according to his latest spec.

This just goes to show that most of us do not actually know what cams do the business and those of you that do keep it to yourselves :(

Robert, you know damn well that if you had closed loop control of your choke you could join the 200 club :)
