Thanks for the comments guys. There was some time where I wanted to send it to the crusher! 😀

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

Well overall the 600 miles went well. We had a small issue of the negative battery lead coming loose at the petrol station in Brighton and loosing all power, which then sparked a shouting match with the bloke behind me who beeped me for taking too long to start the car. I did walk over and shove him back in his box before pushing the car off the pump.
Over all the car had never driven so well. I did a steady 70 down and back, and even at that speed the acceloration is great and instant, the throttle response is now very crisp and you can use more of the engines torque than I ever could before.
The car returned an average of 35 mpg which is 10 more than on the carb, so it wouldn't take that long for the VEMS setup to pay for its self.
I do have a couple of niggles, the car is puffing some smoke when I pull off but doesn't seem to be smoking when driving. The wife wouldn't be tied down on the colour. Now I think this is my fault as when the engine went for the machine work they honed the bore again, and I didn't have a new ring set for the Pistons, now they had only done 1000 miles so I chucked the old Pistons and rings back in hoping they would bed in, but it looks like this was a bad idea, and now a pain in the arse to sort, but for the sake of my 90 year old grandad I had to make Brighton this year.
I still have a bit of tuning at the bottom end when pulling up to a stop but I have a plan for that, and the car with this kit has always done it.
Over all I'm a very happy chappy, just a shame it looks like I've got to pull the engine apart.
So another big thanks goes out to Colin who masterminded the transformation.

I know my car can,t be compared to yours, but there must be more to come on that as, with Phil,s head and Robert,s tuning I get 40mpg from a 1275 at 70mph cruise.

Last trip to Snetterton,250 miles, I averaged 36mpg and I was belting it.

Lovely car you have though !

The fueling is rich everywhere, so you are probibly right Dave. Thing is, on a set up like this, running it just a little leaner seams to make run rougher than youd expect. That said we have yet to really look at cruise areas, the main concern is sorting the overrun areas which are somewhat challenging.

Well I have had an afternoon in the garage and put the modifies manifolds back on the car.
I hade the hole welded up where the Iacv bolted on and drilled and tapped it for a union so that I can run a remote stepper as we weren't getting much movement from the last one. I have also added a bleed valve between the pre and post charger with a solenoid to help control overrun issue. So I hope that this will solve the stalling once and for all.

It's getting very tight under d' hood now!

Well I went back on the rollers before Christmas so we had more time on the idle return to stop the stalling and the car is now much better.

We also did some compression and leak down testing, cylinder 3 was slightly above the others but still just inside the 10%. So we decided to leave it, and get 2016 out of the car before stripping the engine....

On that note I have booked Blyton on the MK1 action day.

I have a couple of bits to do before I go but these are little things, like swapping out the water injection solenoid for a proper meths version. The lpg ones seem to keep sticking closed.

Happy new year all.

Well I stuck some rear camber and toe brackets on the rear this afternoon, the fit great one side and need a tiny attack with a file on the passengers.

This set was from somerford, happy with the fit will need to see how the adjust when they are on the hunter machine.

They were £42 so less than 1/2 the cost of the kad ones.
