The fuel pump relay for an MG Metro Turbo is rated @ 40amp which i would imagine is well adequate for the Mpi fuel pump.

Most normal automotive relays will be fine, a fuel pump should only take 2 to 3A.

Most efi pumps draw an absolute max of 10-15A at high pressure for powerful pumps

On a carb/low pressure install, it probably wuld be less than 5A

Does everyone on here use a relay for the fuel pump?

I currently have one wired in, but im thinking of ditching it to save having to remake the rear loom again, to incorporate some more wires. *oh well*

My switches are rated at 30A so can anyone see a problem not using a relay?

from an electrical point of view, as long as current demand is safe, then the switch is fine.

many people will use a relay to only allow the pump to run under certain conditions though.

Lol Matty, you really need to let the ECU control the pump, then you save on a switch and you won't forget to switch it on:)

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I know but, it comes in handy being able to switch off manually sometimes. :)

i have my SPI/MPI tank wired in with a toggle switch (without relay) it is fused at 6amps as my switch is only rated at 6amps MAX and it just has a 12v feed from the battery (just after my battery switch). and this has been fine, doesnt get hot at all and has never blown a fuse.
