its the biggest argument of engines. i dont really know how im going to run my engine in. probably get it set up by ear and experiences by bill richards to get the fuelling a needle right. then ill do about 100 miles going up and down the rev range using engine braking. some hard acceleration but onl up to about 4-5k max then at 100 miles ill change oil again and do another 200 miles normal driving and then change oil again to the good stuff

I followed the reccomendations of Benross, he posted some info on here a while back and have to say it was spot on! do a search and you should find it.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

here you go but make sure the timing and fueling are spot on i personall would only run no more than 8psi of boost to brake the engine in http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

like ben-h says lots of conflicting opinions ....................

My engine shop recomendations are not much different to that, and they build lots of high performance engines from Ferrari, through Porsche, to Aston Martin.

The common thing is not to labour the engine at low rpms and refrain from high rpm. Some where between 1/4 and 3/4 redline rpm is a free for all as far as im conerned :)

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Ive allways been told if there thrashed from day one they will allways make better power but wont last as long as an engine thats been run in say 500m under 3k then a 1000 up the revs but hardly any boost.

Everyones opinion is different

Id go for 200/300 miles on the running in oil then swap for the good stuff, the rings still need to bed in , but as sproket says so long as the engine isnt labouring then an sure whatever you do it will be fine

As above. The only thing that I have not seen any conflicting opinion on, is to change the oil often. The more the better really, especially in the intial miles.
