If HS and rubber X-coupling ones are the same (as Vegard says in another thread) I also have a pair, about to be scrapped.

So, as per Andy, is there any way of being sure ???

To my knowledge, there are two types of Hardy Spicer shafts. The common rubber coupling/ hardy spicer shafts and the Cooper S shafts

The Cooper S shafts are easily identified with a raised ridge about 1/2" wide some where along its length.

The plain ordinary Hardy Spicer shafts are plain along their length.

The hardy spicer and rubber couplings are interchangeable on the main drive shafts.

I am happy with either :)

Early 1071 Cooper S used rubber coupling.
There are some differences between rubber and Hardy Spicers, but no practical difference.

Andy's sale is first obviously but if there are two of you who want them from Sprocket's description, I'll do mine at the same price.

1970 998 rubber coupling so no "Cooper S" raised ridge on mine.

If you look at the part numbers, the rubber and the S are the same.

But the Cooper S shafts have that ridge, I know, as I have them on the car. While the others do not, so ergo, they are not the same and Somerford are wrong *hehe!*

Tenner sounds good to me:)

If you want to weigh in the couplings and bin the rubbers, would you post the shafts on their own?

Those are fancy schmancy nylon couplings. Don't bin!

I dont supose Andy has the other bearing caps for them?

You could always make one out of the remaining parts, but then you really need two full sets to make the car go anywhere.

I only want the shafts :)

Phil,
I'll pop the joints off and weigh just the shafts.

Paul,
Sorry as Phil was second to ask on the thread but I'll have a search if you're still interested as I may have another pair lurking around somewhere.

Phil,
Bare shafts are 2.3kg which unfortunately put it into a more expensive price band with Royal Mail, £7.06 for "standard parcels". Earliest I could post would be Saturday.
However Parcel2go are currently showing £7.04 for 24-72hr via HDNL and they collect so overall quicker.

PM me if you're still interested.

The cost will be the same for Sprocket. I'm already sending something by this service for somebody else so can easily book a second collection.

I have used HDNL before. they are happy to collect from your doorstep if you are not around.
