here's the plug, all plugs are a uniform colour matching the one in the pic!



what ya reckon? it seems a sandy colour on the electrode & the ceramic with the metal pin thingy below it, then its like a circle of soot around it!

FFS, I have no idea what goes through peoples mind when they post a picture like that then ask advice.

Please tell me you can see whats wrong with the pic. and if you can, why post it. and if you cannot, you need to renew your eye prescrition.

i asking for help & an opinion not an ear bender/eye bender there are enough females to do that for me
as a matter of fact i do need an eyetest! & only own a camera phone with a dirty lense,
matt woods does all the clarity & perfect pics not me, i do what i can with what i have

i know someone said you should run the turbo motor a little darker than sandy colour so the motor combusts slightly cooler?

i have to re-check my timing again as its as near as damit to 7/8 degrees btdc at 1500rpm

i think it may be better at 6 btdc, the motor is bog-stock!

You need to ditch that clockwork shit and fit your megajolt gear :).

Are you using the correct grade plug with the correct gap?

MG Metro Turbo plugs should be Champion RN7YCC whereas the N/A 1275 Metro uses RN9YCC.

The gap should be 0.032" (0.8mm)

The ignition timing should be 7 degrees BTDC @ 1500 RPM with vac hose disconnected & plugged (for test purposes) on the MG Metro Turbo.

Always set the ignition timing, valve clearances etc before you adjust the carb.

Don't forget to top up the carb dashpot with oil before you adjust the carb.

Has Laurence swallowed a Haynes manual?

Like you say check the timing again and give the plugs a clean. If you can get hold of a wideband to borrow then this will show If the mixture is ok. It will at least put your mind at rest that it is fuelling ok I would have said it's hard to get a good idea if it's fueling correctly all the up the rev range by looking at the plug colour?

ok i'll have a fiddle, i just want to make sure all is running near enough tickety boo stock before i plumb in my intercooler just have to bolt it in at the weekend & get pipes/tune to make the runs smooth!
