Just thought I'd post up my sensor installation.

The sensor post bolts through the timing cover, doesn't leak and doesn't appear to vibrate at all. It's also within the run of the fan belt so you only have to unplug the sensor to change the belt.

The wheel is from Trigger Wheels and fits snugly onto the machined down pulley. After setting the timing it was welded on, this failed a few weeks back and there's now a trigger wheel somewhere near Bristol on the M5. A new one is now in place a fitted a little more convincingly.

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Certainly the most simple I've seen, I like that.

And presumably once you've done all the setting up to optimise the gaps and angles then welded the trigger wheel into it's final position, why bother with any adjustment on the sensor. Yep, good job.

Presume the snsor bolt goes into a milled flat rather than on the cylindrical surface ?

Richard.

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.

Thank you. I like simple, less to go wrong.

Setting up was basically find TDC, count the teeth round from the sensor, mark the pulley and trigger wheel and fix. If it was a couple of degrees out (it wasn't) you can correct it in the software. The only adjustment available is the height of the sensor above the wheel, it just clears with a couple of small washers.

When I made the post I had no milling facilities, so the flat was formed with a bit of careful filing. If I was doing it again then yes it would be milled.

Cheers

Rich
