Didn't fancy any welding and grinding this weekend so I spent it playing with my box instead, and noticed that the gauze on the central pickup pipe had split, so before I go out and blindly order a new one are there any differences between them? and is there a particular one to go for or are they all pretty much the same?

Buy the minispares one as its one you can trust.

I have had experience of another, and the exposed gauze area was tiny. It was covered in crap and did cause oil pressure problems.

The difference is obvious when you have them side by side.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Mike, are you saying you run a center pick up without the gauze? as thats how it reads. You are in danger of making yourself look like a tit if this is the case *hehe!*

Germini, black forrest

The MiniSpares one seems good, no question. But mine was welded on the inside, thus making the opening on the flange, where it bolts to the gearbox, a bit smaler than the original. Might pose a restriction on some engines with a need for much oil...?

Or did I get a MiniSport one? But I'm sure my dealer supplied me with a Spares one...

Obviously those center pickups are not for lazy people - regular oil changes to keep the gearbox clean (surprising, what a difference that makes! 100km+ 'box, almost as new, no sludge & crap inside, PO changed oil very regulary).

Or you could paint inside your gear box with the wrong paint and wait for that clog your gauze up... wasn't a long wait was it Mike??

It was a certain company that painted it. J&j minis or summat? But it was the finer gauze that also contributed to the issue so i swapped it out an ms one.
