SE is just a spec level, but TBH not much difference between the "Sport" and SE.

the seats differ between the sport and SE and the suspension is lower but i doubt either would make much differance to the overall weight

On some BMWs the M Models (and sometimes the Sport models) had suspension parts in ally, where the std parts are steel..
Too many projects! |

It could be possible I suppose? They either have ally suspension or they dont.... M cars are different to std models (like an M3) they often has totally different suspension components. AlexF |

Why do you need a car over 1600kg? AlexF |

Not wanting to take this too far off topic,... but that's not the case, The E30 M3 uses either steel or ally wishbones, depending on the year. These are identical to the steel ones on the std cars. In fact later sports and tourings got the ally arms fitted. As the ally ones are very expensive, plenty of m3 owners run steel arms & change them regularly (if they see a lot of track use) The E34 also had interchangable steel/ally front syspension arms. Some models including the M5 had the ally, basic ones had the steel. It's probably less common on newer models though... Too many projects! |

The closest thing to a wishbone is the track control arm. I have a 318i which has ally track control arms. I have never seen a steel one. And they only cost €90 for a new ally one with the rear bush and both balljoints fitted On 12th Nov, 2009 Paul S said:

FWIW Steel are currently around £45, ally ones about £250. Back on topic. If you need it to be over 1600kg, can you spec the sport with a couple of extra options? (like the rear electric windows etc) 100kg might be a lot of money in options though!! Too many projects! |
