Hi

i really suggest you to stay away from Alan and Alan (A & A) insurance!!!

they are rubbing people! *Sick*

On the phone i bought full comprehensive insurance for my mini 1990 check mate 0.9 + all modifications. for 800

But what i received by the post after few days??
third part, my car was like 1.3 cooper, no modifications... everything completely wrong!! :(:(:(:(

i call them and what they want now is: or i cancel and pay 80 pound for nothing, they didn't even mention about it, they said it is free cancellation in first 14days. but NOT!! :(
or i need to pay around 400 more to get all right and comprehensive!!!

Is it some kind strategy to get money out of people for nothing??

I am so F***ing upset,

Please do not do business with them if you do not want to pay double after phone call *happy*

Nothing special!

Can you not go to Trading standards..... if they said something and are not deliverying that service, take it to there managment etc.

When you rang up did you get the messge on the phone;

"This phone call may be recorded for training and safety....." blahh blahhh

If so, and they offered you that deal over the phone, ask them for a copy of the phone call then,

Customer is all ways right.....

But i feel your anger with BIG companies taking the piss out of us......

i had a similiar thing with two! of the big insurance companies.
Adrian flux would insure my car when it was being trailered to shows etc (one of the few that would!) for reasonable money i thought. However when the paperwork arrives it states that a cat 1 alarm system has to be fitted, no mention of that earlier when i'm listing all the mods :( and there's no way i can fit a self arming system for a normal car to a car thats electrically dead as soon as i turn the battery cut off, has no interior light circuit, totally bare of any wiring thats not needed, and the important bit - 'theft cover is not included untill we get installation certificate. Just fuck off!, cunts *angry*

The second one - Sureterm - sit there on the phone declaring all mods, then get the paperwork - yep you guessed it - only a few listed *angry*
Correct the mistakes on the form and send it back, then get a letter stating that extra mods, 'not listed at the time of the initial quote' incur extra charges or the policy will be cancelled. FFS *angry* *angry* I coughed up the extra as it was still cheaper than others but thats not the point!

Insurance companies are all a bunch of useless bastards! FACT!

Here for the craic..

When you say you have a 0.9 checkmate... surely you mean a 998cc which is classed as 1.0 litre?

insurance ombudsman would be a good bet - might sort them out with at least the threat of it

yea man, on the phone the operator said that i have 14 days to cancel my insurance without paying a penny!!

but now they are showing me a rule where shown that if you want cancel this insurance even after 2h you need to pay 50 pounds them and 30 to the insurance company!!! crazy!! :/

never ever trust what they are saying on the phone!! better to get email with that king of info!!

and now i asked to have record of that conversation, but they said that they did not record that one!!!?!?!

CUNT!!!!

it is enough for me, i do not want to wast my time and stress about it any more F**k them! i hope they will get all that dodgy staff back!!! :)

just wanted to inform you guys, to be careful and pay more attention on details, better ask for email from them to confirm all what they said!! :)

before you go to the financial ombudsman, you have to be seen to try and sort it out direct with the company via a formal complaint.

before you call back, make some bullet points of the issues that you have experienced

they have strict guidelines as to how these are handled, and have to tell you the protocol there and then on the phone

i.e. you will get call in 24hrs by a complaints handler to review your issues and clarify the complaint, a letter within a week to acknowledge the complaint, and weekly updates after that until resolved.

they will more than likely just give you your money back if you initiate the above, but if not, ask them how your treatment has been in accordance with their "treating customers fairly" guidelines (all fsa regulated companies have to adhere to these), and ask for a copy of the guidelines to be posted to you aswell. Make as big a fuss as possible, but never get angry, lose your temper or swear, or they will just use this as an excuse to cease communication with you, and unfortunately in the eyes of the Financial ombudsman this is a valid reason, they can use it as their get out of jail free card

If after all that they do not cave in, then the financial ombusman will be interested.

(I used to work in the complaints team of an insurance company btw)
