is it the pop off valve in the plenum??

Everyone knows that instructions only have to be read if the thing doesn't work....

i thought that thing didnt kick in untill about 10psi or something though? mine did the same before i had a boost gauge or dump valve, turned out the pipe to the actuator was split and it was overboosting.....not good :(

steve *happy*
there is a popet valve, small dump valve in the plenum budddy
layland, rover, fitted this as an added saftey device for over boost as well as serving for the above it cracks off at around 10psi
i blanked mine off, tapping this to
38"BSP (BRITISH STANDARD PIPE),
the hole left after removing the spring and the guts, happens to be the right dia for the tap to sail straight in
i fitted a hex taperd plug with some PTFE tape on to the seal it .
if you want a plug let me know but i cant send you the tap so you will have to cadge one, 2nd tap is sufficient
but some of the guys have diffrent ways of blanking it off
ie a lot stronger spring or haraldite, Ally weld it or what ever
do away with it or you will never be able to boost over 10psi ISH*frown*
search the threads on this site for "actuators" & "plenums"

cheers mate, i plugged the ecu pipe to stop/limit the boost, there must be a split some where, will get a boost gauge to sort it, im gonna leave that popet valve there until i got the readys to get a dump valve.

yup i also learnt that you need a boost gauge and a rolling road setup the hard way.

i'm only running 10psi max on this engine so the 5p's havent gone anywhere yet thankfully *happy*

that poppet valve sounds a good safety feature, im gonna leave it there, i dont plan to run higher than 10psi.

i used to get that noise on my 5 turbo and that had no dump valve at all, I was told it was the air travelling back through the turbo (stalling the rotor etc) and out through the air filter......
