Wolfie, there are ceramic coatings out there that will stand up to the heat. The only way to do it correctly is to have it done inside and out. This will have the added benefit of keeping the exhaust gases hot, thus more power through the turbo (larger differential from the high-pressure exhaust side to the lower pressure side), and will help with flow even on a NA engine (the hotter gases help pull the charge out of the chamber is what I understand).

You can do the coating yourself, if you're set up for it. A friend gave me a source for a high-temp, do-it-yourself coating that (allegedly) the professional, well-known shops use. I have not tried it myself, but plan to. Let me know if you're interested in that contact info.

Oh, and it's amazingly cheap stuff!

My friend says he's used it, and had great results. Prep is exteremly important in these things, though!

I've never seen a good diy ceramic coating, whats it called? any detail?

One i'm familiar with is hot applied using a plasma flame. Cost is around ?35 for a linear foot of say 1.5" diameter tube. You'd need to send any components to them in a good clean condition (no rust) as they would charge you extra for the extra prep on it. As an indication if you measure the temp from 6 inches from the manifold surface you will see around a 150 deg C drop in temp. This is used in quite a lot of serious race cars.
