Evening all,

I call upon the TM "borg" to help decide on mine and the other halfs new motor.

At the moment its a dead heat between the 2003/4 Honda S2000, and 2004/5 Subaru Impreza STI. We just cant decide between them as each have advantages.

Please vote your opinion and if you have experience of either car, your comments would be appreciated.

Thankings.

Although I had an older Impreza, I still miss the beast :(
Wouldn't hesitate to get one again.. although I prefer the classic ones personally *happy*

Ha to be the subaru. You'll never get big car bits in the Honda.

All depends on what you want from the car! If it was me I would have the Honda my mates mum has one and it's spot on! Subarus seem to be everywhere these days!

I hate you. Two cars on my list of cars I want to own (although I want a hawkeye Impreza). I assume as it's for "the other half" that you will have a car for doing the shopping etc. so you don't need any practicality?

I would choose the Impreza though, as the S2000 needs is a bit wild, rwd and needs the tits revved off it. Probably not well suited to your other half

Well,

The other half is as much a petrol head as me, and she can drive well, having rwd cars for 10 years or so. However, I would rather she was driving to work down the lanes in the impreza, plus it is much more practical for holidays/fetching mini bits etc.

Decisions decisions....

With the subaru you have the cake with the advantages of a regular car.

With the honda, you have almost as much cake but that's it ...

Ho and you can never go wrong with a turbo ...

But why not a Lancer Evo or similar stuffs ?

Rusty by nature

I don't know if it's the same over there, but I know the s2000 is a right twat to fix over here, all the parts are super expensive, for example: 1 headlight cost $900. I worked at a body shop, and we had several come through, front end collisions, total bills came out over $10,000.

I have owned two 2-seater cars (X1/9, Elise) and I miss them both. Mind you I don't like Imprezas, they understear like oil tankers, well compared to S2000.

I vote S2000.

both have different stigma attached to them for one reason or another, which could go on a con list, but if you're looking for fun and laughs my vote would be the STi - i have always liked the s2000 but surely the Subaru is a much more impressive and performance driven beast...

So what you are saying is that a 4-door saloon family car with some extra plastic and a turbo is a more focused sports car than a specifically designed sports car? Are you sure?

They do look amazing with the Spoon roof. Trouble is that they cost $6,000 and you lose the boot. I would still do it. I've always loved S2000s but soft tops are gay

S2000 gets my vote as currently me daily driver! picked up an early one last year to take over to the nurburgring for Ric's stag do and was more impressed than i though i would be. handling and feedback etc are pretty good, does feel like a proper sports car to drive (coming from a very numb feeling BMW!) but also easy enough to get on with everyday so plan on keeping hold of it for a while (also the sound at 9000rpm is pretty addictive!)

mine at the nurburgring:
