Im gonna make my own out of sheet aluminium i expect and cut the holes for gauges using the cnc mill at work *wink* .

As regards to fixing it il prob weld some metal tabs with clinch nuts on the dash rail and use some machine screws to hold it in place.

Cheers matt *smiley*

will you design the dash in a drawing program such as auto cad? if so can you send me the drawing so i can hopefully do the same, other wise i'll just make my own, and what thickness sheet metal will you use?

Prob wont design it as iv got the dash that came out as a template. I'l take measurements from that and make a drawing i expect. Prob use 3-5mm thick ally plate if it needs it i'l mount it on some plywood to give it stiffness.

First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

ive used the diagram above in the past and its quite good. With that method i ran a 0.5" thick batton of wood along the top and bottom dash rails and held it in with 3 screws top and bottom.

on my car now i have no dash rails and have a wooden dash popped in behind the metal and at either end a strip of aluminium going from the top rail to the bottom and a bolt going through about half way up that i can attach a wing nut to.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

Just use hole saws to cut the gauge holes. do the trick and easier than setting up a milling machine.

If you look at a 'pukka' Rover or decent aftermarket dash, the bottom (which sits on the lower dash rail) is not flat, but curved in the middle... Put a piece of baton across your lower dash rail and it's obvious to see.
The diagram above is certainly a good start however!

I have one in my car, i really want a better way to mount it though. At the momneny its in place and bolted in with some shiney nuts and bolts, one at each end where the eyeball vents would have been, they are only bolted to a piece of wood though vertical at each end behind the nut and bolt tightened against the dash rails. Hope this makes sence, but does anyone have a better invention of one that will work better, without making it too hard to remove?

is the clubman dash the same as the round nose?, i was looking at the top and bottom rail things (above and bellow the speedo/tacho) and its curved horizontaly, does everyone just bed their material to fit and if so is that strong enough?
